This is the lovely, cosy cottage that we have recently renovated and it is now available for holiday rental to friends and family until November 2016.

Nestled in a picture-postcard village, in the heart of the Peak District National Park, 300 year old Lancaster Cottage is the perfect bolt-hole for those who want to get away from it all.

Built in 1701 out of local limestone and Grade II Listed, Lancaster Cottage oozes character and is the ideal retreat for a luxury romantic escape.

It is packed with original features with beautiful wooden beams throughout, unique gritstone fireplace with cosy stove burner and thick exposed stone walls, it is a wonderful haven all year round.

Maybe you want to snuggle up on the gorgeous comfy settee by the fireside or listen to the birdsong in the beautiful garden with a glass of wine – the weather will help you decide!

The position is perfect – situated in a little row of cottages with a car-free frontage with outdoor seating for enjoying that morning coffee.  It is utterly peaceful except for the sound of bird song and the occasional church bells.  Take the secret path from the front door and you’ll find our hidden garden, completely private and full of flowers, with seating and gorgeous views over open countryside.

Things to do

This is the perfect base for walking and exploring Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park – http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/.  With numerous walking trails and public footpaths including the Limestone Way only minutes from the house, 2 great traditional pubs (one is 2 minutes walk, the other a 7 minute walk) and Winster’s famous village shop, everything you need is on the doorstep.  Once you are here, there is no need to get in the car again until you leave.  Alternatively, it is easy to reach by public transport.

Winster is listed in the Doomsday Book and is now a Conservation Area, with most of its beautiful and unique 17th/18th century buildings being listed.  However, despite the peaceful nature of the village, it is a real place with lots of character and friendly locals – great for a wander around the little narrow streets before you go to the pub!

This is a great all round view up East Bank from the National Trust Market House, up towards the cottage and the Bowling Green pub – 360 degree view of Winster.
